I have wanted, for a while now, an encyclopedia about my life. Partly to make my life easier to live and remember but also to make my life more official. It's as if to say to the world, "Hello. I am living. Here is my life." I previously have considered building an "Internet of me". A vault of all my music, favorite movies, and favorite books. My memories, my recipes, my stories. This would be a way to consume information I like, offline, so that I wouldn't need the actual internet. It's a large undertaking. I'm going to start with the encyclopedia, it's been named Dickopedia, and will exist on a local drive, probably built in Tiddlywiki or another open source bit of software.
The encyclopedia would contain entries about events, people, and places that that intersect with my life. There will be an entry for my Dad, his dad, my mom, and restaurants I've frequented. My best friends, and pets, etc. The encyclopedia is not for public consumption, nor us it an edifice to my ego. Rather it is a tool to facilitate deep learning about the people and places that inhabit the world and are traversing the same stream of time as I am. It's not meant to be an exhaustive references about everything and everyone I meet with or contact, just a few lines of text and a photo for most entries. The benefit is that I will first have to learn enough about a topic to write a page about it. This has been fun lately, because I've been asking my dad questions about his life. I think it'll be a nice thing to have forever once Dickopedia is mostly finished. Welp, conatruction has begun! Comments are closed.
